About Palama Scholarship

The Palama Scholarship is dedicated to empowering Hawaii’s next generation by providing financial support and encouragement to students who demonstrate academic promise, personal integrity, and a commitment to their community. Since 1999, we have proudly invested in the future of local youth, helping them pursue higher education and achieve their dreams.

Important Application Information

The Palama Scholarship Foundation is proud to support students who demonstrate academic achievement, dedication, and commitment to their education and community.

We are pleased to announce that applications for the 2026 Palama Scholarship are now open.


Minimum Eligibility Requirement:Applicants must have a cumulative unweighted GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.

  • Applications are accepted online only via this link. 
  • Applications submitted at Palama store locations will not be accepted.
  • Only completed applications with all required documents uploaded through this portal will be reviewed.
  • Please carefully follow all instructions before submitting your application.

Required Documents

  1. Most Recent Transcript
    Official transcripts are preferred. However, if an official transcript is not yet available, an unofficial transcript may be submitted.
  2. Enrollment Verification for the 2026–2027 Academic Year
    • Graduating high school seniors must provide both a college acceptance letter and proof of commitment/enrollment.
    • Current college students must provide proof of enrollment for the upcoming academic year.
  3. Parents’ Most Recent Tax Return (Form 1040 – First Two Pages Only)
    If you file your own taxes, you may include your personal tax return; however, your parents’ tax return is still required. Only the first two pages of the tax return are needed. For privacy purposes, Social Security numbers may be blacked out before submission.
  4. FAFSA Application
    Applicants who have applied for FAFSA are required to upload a complete copy of their FAFSA application.
  5. Teacher Recommendation Letter
    A recommendation letter from a current teacher or professor at your high school or college is required. Some teachers may provide the letter directly to the student for upload with the application. Others may prefer to send the recommendation directly to the Palama Scholarship Foundation at PalamaScholarship@gmail.com. If your recommendation letter is being sent directly by your teacher or professor, please upload an additional page at the end of your application materials stating that the recommendation letter has been sent separately and include the recommender’s full name. This will help ensure that your application is considered complete.

  • Selected Candidate Interviews: June 27, 2026
  • Scholarship Recipients Announced: July 6, 2026
